Bakeries are my favorite eateries. I admire a great baker. The ones that work scratch and really feel passionate about what they create. Coffee, pastries, relaxed atmosphere, and mornings among friendly strangers also draw me in. There is just something so satisfying about a great tasting pastry and a cup of fresh brewed coffee. But I’m fussy. You will find bakeries everywhere and indeed they are making a comeback as popular hangouts for people and their laptops. Farm to Market Bakery in Bow, Washington is a popular destination and I call it special. In fact it’s a multiple year winner of Best Bakery in the Skagit Valley. Why it’s special can be answered by taking a bite out of just about anything on their menu.

What get’s me coming back time after time is their cinnamon rolls. They are pretty much the epitome of what a classic cinnamon roll is supposed to look like and taste like. They are an  unforgettable gastronomic experience. Eating one of these extravagances is a pastry nirvana, and these are monstrous to boot. So plan on spending some time packing one away. They also come with wonderful cream cheese icing that you can ladle on.

The place is humble but comfortable with a country charm. The staff friendly and ready to please. Tell them they’re doing a great job on your way out –  a compliment can be just as meaningful as your patronage. It’s on the road to Chuckanut Drive so it’s alway busy with tourists, cyclists and local characters stopping in while exploring the uniquely beautiful Bow/Edison area. Definitely worth the trip.
